Seifert garners all-state honors for standout season at shortstop

Platte County’s first freshman honoree since Koeneke in 2017 helped lead Pirates to 19-8 record, berth in Class 4 District 8 title game.

Platte County freshman shortstop Bryli Seifert earned Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association (MHSFCA) all-state honors after a dominant offensive season. She made the first team in Class 4 as an infielder.

Installed as the starting shortstop to open the season, Seifert posted team-bests in batting average (.548), on-base-percentage (.620) and OPS (1.592) and also led Paltte County in hits (40), runs (32), home runs (five) and RBIs (32). She played in all 27 games and struck out just four times

In addition, Seifert pitched in four games and went 1-0 with 11 strikeouts and just one walk before elbow soreness took her out of the circle for the remainder of the season.

Led by seniors Avery Webster, Morgan Shields, Emma Reed, Anna Crowell and Kallie Hitzelberger, Platte County exited the postseason in the same round for a second straight season after having gone to the Class 4 state semifinals in 2020 and 2021 — finishing third both times. came to an end. The Pirates opened the 2023 season at 2-2 but won six of the next seven and closed the regular season with eight victories in the final nine.

Seifert’s batting average hit a season-low of .333 after going 0-for-2 in an August 31 loss to Blue Springs. She had at least one hit in 20 of the final 21 games and homered five times in a span of seven games late in the season, highlighted with going 4-for-4 with a walk, two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored in a victory over Excelsior Springs.
