Kaser, Kytasaari earn all-state honors following Platte County’s 20-win season

Pair of 4-year starters named to Class 3 teams after helping Pirates reach district title game.

For the first time since 2022, Platte County garnered a selection to the Class 3 Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA) all-state teams. In fact, the Pirates ended up with seniors Finley Kaser (first team, goalkeeper) and Lily Kytasaari (second team, forward) on this year’s lists after finishing 20-4 with a season-ending loss to St. Pius X in the Class 3 District 8 championship game.

Both were four-year starters and the program’s first all-state performers since both Riley Smith and Hannah Stone were honored three years ago.

Kaser ended up with 14 total cleansheets in 24 games and also helped Platte County earn two victories in penalty kick shootouts. She allowed more than one goal just twice, once in a victory over Grain Valley early in the season that eventually played a part in the two teams sharing the Suburban Conference White Division title.

In addition to all-state honors, coaches also voted Kaser as the MSHSSCA Class 3 Region 4 and conference goalkeeper of the year.

Kytasaari led Platte County with 24 goals to go with eight total assists as the top playmaker for an offense that put up nearly four goals per game. Her diverse contributions over the past four seasons included playing as a solo striker, part of a duo up top and multiple roles as an attacking midfielder.

Named the White Division offensive player of the year, Kytasaari finisher her career with 45 goals and 23 assists.

Platte County coach earned conference coach of the year honors after leading program to an 11-win improvement over 2024. In fact, the Pirates endured back-to-back losing seasons before returning to the conference title game for the first time since 2022 when Kaser and Kytasaari were starters and immediate impact players a year after their most recent playoff berth in 2021.

After starting 1-2 this spring, Platte County reeled off a 14-game winning streak, including the win over Grain Valley before a loss to the Eagles in the second matchup of the conference home-and-home. The Pirates earned the No. 3 seed in the Class 3 District 8 tournament and knocked off Pembroke Hill in the semifinals before losing 1-0 to St. Pius X in the title game.
